This report has been produced as part of the 211 Check flagship project under Digital Rights Frontline—DRF (former DefyHate Now South Sudan). The activities highlighted in this report were part of various projects implemented in 2024 under DefyHate Now South Sudan before transition into the Digital Rights Frontline in collaboration with partners.
The government of the Republic of South Sudan in 2019 made five (5) pledges to enhance services to refugees and host communities in the country and foster conditions for returns. Such commitments were made in the areas of Education, Jobs and livelihoods, Environment, Solutions, and statelessness. In preparation for the 2023 Global Refugee Forum (GRF), the government of South Sudan completed a stocktaking exercise of its previous commitments, achievements and challenges.
Since the academic calendar was normalised in 2023 after it was interrupted from 2020 up to 2022 by the COVID-19 pandemic, schools in South Sudan will operate normally in the academic year 2024, from February until December.

The 7th governors' forum was held from the 28th of November until the 3rd of December 2023 in Juba on strengthening intergovernmental relations, elections, security, implementation of the A-RCSS, and humanitarian issues.
The governors' forum was conducted in Juba from 26th November to 2nd December 2024 on issues of intergovernmental relations, constitution-making and civic space, climate change, and humanitarian issues.
