African Union Press Statement on C5 Ministerial Consultative Meeting on South Sudan

This is a press statement about the outcome of the African Union (AU) High-Level Ad hoc Committee for South Sudan (C5) Ministerial consultative meeting, which took place in February 2024. The meeting was held to discuss progress and challenges in the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS). The ministers exchanged views on ways and means of supporting the implementation of the agreement's outstanding tasks to create conducive conditions for the successful organization of transparent and credible elections in December 2024 according to the Roadmap of the extended transitional period reached in August 2022. The Ad-Hoc High-Level Committee commended the African Union (AU) Commission for the efforts being deployed in supporting South Sudan. Moreover, the statement reiterates the R-ARCSS remains a pivotal coordination framework for the successful transition in South Sudan and the restoration of durable peace, security, and stability in the country.
