According to the March 2024 press statement from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of South Sudan, the country is experiencing an extreme heat wave, posing serious health risks to the population. The Ministry of Health advises the General Public to follow their guidance, including keeping homes cool and hydrated, avoiding excessively hot temperatures and staying alert about heat exhaustion and stroke symptoms. The Ministry also orders indefinite closure of schools with effect from 18 March 2024 as a measure to mitigate the impact of the severe weather on learners’ health.
