The Southern Sudan Center for Census, Statistics and Evaluation launched 2010 statistical yearbook in Juba on Wednesday. The Chairman of the Commission, Isaiah Chol Aruai, said that the book is a reference document which compiles all the available data about southern Sudan. He said that it also provides information about food security assessment in the region. Speaking during the launch, southern Sudan's Vice President, Riak Machar Teny, said the yearbook can enable institutions to measure their progress and shortcomings effectively. He added said the book shows that a large portion of the population faces food insecurity, which indicates challenges facing southern Sudan. He urged the Commission to present its report to the Council of Ministers in order to help the government to formulate policies appropriately.
